And I loved you

And I loved you,
dreamed of a wedding, just us two.
My father said, “He’s not for you,”
but all I wanted was to be with you.
We had something close, something real,
a moment no one else could feel.
But you went out and told them all,
like it meant nothing at all.
And still, to me, you’d softly say
words of love you’d send my way.
But your friends would laugh and speak —
“he’s got many girls each week.”
So I sit here, torn apart,
holding pieces of my heart.
And my bunny whispers low,
“Don’t you cry… just let it go.
Take some sweetness, take a break,
on Easter have a simple cake.”
But even sweetness can’t replace
the way I miss your face.
And I loved you… yes, it’s true,
even when it broke me too. ❤️
