Fractured Star

Before dawn, it was broken

crumbling

                fragment by

                                    falling fragment,

dropping from the sky like a murdered star.

All the words no one would hear

ringing down into their ears.

One day, earth

                         fractured,

fell from the sky.

It was then they realized

how blind they had been.

That day, a star fell into the sun

and the sun destroyed the earth, outdone.

It began with little lies

soon after everything split apart.

They had chosen not the listen

for fear of obligation,

now there was only regret.

The world looked on in shock

wishing they could unwind the clock.

The sun collapsed on that broken star

and left a permanent scar.
