I Let the Past Go

Written 2025-11-25

I let the past go —

it’s not my home anymore.

Why hold on to someone

who only knew how to hurt?

I’m done carrying bruises

that weren’t mine to keep.

I’m done fixing people

who broke me in return.

I walk away from the chaos,

from fists disguised as love,

from promises that cracked

like cheap glass in the sun.

I let the past go

because I finally choose myself.

My peace, my breath, my future —

all of it matters more

than a boy who never learned

how to be human.

So I open the door,

let the shadows fall behind me,

and I step into the light

with steady hands

and a calmer heart.

I’m not going back.

There’s nothing for me there.

I let the past go —

and it has no power over me anymore.
