Keylime

A man breathes life into latex
balloon animals come alive
The air smells of salt
and the sand prickles my thigh
I hear the the soft ocean waves
Under the waves of speech
I look at my mother's face
peering into the past
She's oblivious
oblivious to me
Peaceful evenings
I long for such as this
A child's present never feels future's eyes.
I long for key lime,
a tangy sweet bite
But it leaves a sour taste on my tongue
The harmony of flavor
long gone...
I had 3 tiers
Each perfect
A time I'd never see a glutton in the mirror
Nevertheless
3 tiers
shared among 4
Just out of reach
an echo of a wave
missing, blurry, just out of focus
This night is just a whisper
Navarre, Florida
Pensacola beach
My childhood
a lock safe for my memories
Balloon animals dance in the shadows
As salt water haunts my nose
I never felt the eyes of the future
