Letter Santa

Dear Santa

I'm writing from Slovakia today,

To Finland, where your reindeer stay.

I write in English, as you can see—

I hope that's good enough for thee.

Finnish? Sadly, I cannot speak.

Swedish? My skills are rather weak.

So English is my little sleigh,

To send my Christmas thoughts your way.

My mother tongue sings like a bird,

The sweetest language you've ever heard.

I was born in Romania's sunny south,

Not far from Ukraine, word of mouth.

Yet Chernivtsi became my home,

Where many childhood dreams would roam.

And Finland was the place, one day,

Where I first learned you weren't just a fairy tale anyway.

This winter I'll turn twenty-nine.

(Please tell Time to stand in line.)

I have someone dear within my heart;

For now, our messages play the biggest part.

Thanks to you—or maybe me—

I've wrapped my own gifts beautifully.

Turns out grown-ups learn this trick:

"From me... to me!" It works quite quick. 🎁

I dream of cookbooks on my shelf,

Not just to decorate themselves.

I wish to bake and gently fry,

To see my loved one's happy eyes.

Breakfast warm, and lunch with care,

A lovely dinner we can share.

No palace, gold, or luxury—

Just love, a home, and harmony. ❤️

I studied fashion, stitch by stitch,

A dream no money makes more rich.

Košice calls me like a song,

With snowy hills where I belong.

Blue and purple coats we found,

A black one, too, to walk around.

Red-and-black warm trousers, neat,

A beige knit sweater, soft and sweet.

Winter jeans and sportswear brown—

I'm almost ready for snow in town.

One day I'll wear designs I've made,

Without pretending, unafraid.

Today we came back from my class.

Time, as always, ran so fast.

We bought some sausage for my dad,

Cauliflower for me—I was glad.

Mom went away to see the sea,

While studies stayed at home with me.

Through VPN I found a way

To speak with Ukrainians today.

So, Santa, if you're reading still,

Perhaps you know my deepest will.

Don't hurry miracles too fast—

Please make the happy moments last.

Bring peace where people need it most.

Keep hope alive from coast to coast.

Give health to those who fight each day,

And light to guide them on their way.

As for me... I ask for little, true:

A loving heart that's honest too.

A family table, warm and bright,

With laughter shining every night.

And if your elves have time to spare,

Tell them this with extra care:

If happiness comes wearing lace,

Or denim, wool, or velvet grace—

I'll gladly sew it, seam by seam...

Because, dear Santa,

life itself is my biggest dream. 🎄✨

...

Dear Santa,

Before I forget...

I really hope you've upgraded your navigation system.

Back in the day, one bright star was probably enough.

Nowadays?

Even Google Maps sometimes says,

"Recalculating..."

With billions of chimneys around the world,

I'm honestly impressed you still manage to arrive on time.

Unless...

your reindeer secretly have satellite navigation.

In that case,

please tell Rudolph I admire his engineering skills.

And one more question...

Do you still use a DVD player?

Because every year people keep making Christmas movies about you,

and I have no idea how you're supposed to watch them all.

Maybe the elves already bought you Netflix.

Or maybe they're still arguing about the Wi-Fi password.

That would explain a lot. 😄

...

Life has taught me something important.

I no longer waste my heart

on tiny problems that disappear tomorrow.

I've learned to enjoy

a warm cup of coffee,

fresh snow,

good conversations,

new fabric,

beautiful books,

and quiet mornings.

I've learned that happiness isn't always loud.

Sometimes it quietly sits beside you

and whispers,

"This moment is enough."

Of course...

it's much harder when your homeland is living through war.

Some days your heart smiles.

Some days it worries.

But even then,

I choose hope.

Because hope is probably

the warmest Christmas sweater

anyone can wear.

...

So if you decide to bring me anything this year...

Don't worry about expensive gifts.

Just keep the people I love safe.

Help me become a good fashion designer.

Let me keep creating beautiful things with my hands.

Let me cook breakfasts with love,

laugh often,

cry only when watching Christmas movies,

and always remember

that miracles sometimes arrive quietly...

without making any noise on the roof.
