Like We Are Strangers

Written 2017-05-30

I'm not quite sure what I would say if I saw you again.

I know things I could say, but I'm not certain I could be that angry.

Be that childish.

It is possible we would walk by each other on the street

not even acknowledging one another.

Just like we were strangers.

I don't know if that would hurt me.

Or if I could walk by and not give turning around a thought.

It is strange how quickly things can change.

One week, can turn lovers into strangers.

And vice versa.

It makes you second guess-wonder-if the love was real at all.

Did we love as much as we said?

Are we already so disconnected that we cannot even say hello?

Perhaps we will forever act, unyielding,

like we are strangers.
