WHAT I'VE LEARNED FROM 2024

Written 2024-12-31

What have I learned from 2024?

Honesty is still the best policy

although it makes you bleed

and may cut or sever ties

often permanently.

To love is forever the greatest risk,

but to leave after a breakup or rejection is a necessity

in the name of your peace.

Let's decenter them for the sake of your mental health and stability.

They're just mortals like you.

They're not here for eternity.

Have you managed to maintain relationships,

only because you know when to shut up,

while all they do is talk?

How compromising.

Isn't that exhausting?

This time, open your mouth and deliver your most brutal honesty

the way they do every damned opportunity.

Let's see if they choose to play their double standards

that it's okay for them to say whatever the hell they like

but you still need to be more considerate and polite.

Let's see if they get defensive or they might choose to stay.

That's when you know how they've been treating you:

a real friend - or just a much-needed audience,

a silent participant in this one-sided conversation?

What have I learned from 2024?

Your apology is not needed

when it's only to mock how I feel

instead of taking the accountability

by realizing your guilt.

I'm not that petty, but that bare minimum is an insult to me.

My tolerance for drama is almost nonexistent.

Unapologetically, I decide who and what deserves my full attention!
