Last cigarette
And as i lit my last cigarette
I felt the sweet taste of it
It reminded me why even hold it
Why embrace it between my lips
Draw it close, share my breath with it
Why my fingertips became familiar with its shape
But I no longer yearn for the feeling it gave me once
I must quit
For you too did give me relief
Your breath too brought comfort to my world
You too did take away the loneliness of my rainy nights
But i must stop
As it too did take my breath away
It too was killing me slow
I too did find solace in its blissful smoke
And as i drag the filter from my lips
I notice it has burnt me a little
And even that burn felt like a warm embrace.
