Go back to the ancient age
if you still see us such potential threats
It’s not that we don’t need people
to sometimes save us from trouble
We’re good as can be
If age is just a number,
then why does time feel smaller?
Space is no longer
as wide as we once experienced.
Before the digits,
I think I’ve run out of sedatives
just to numb the pain within.
I know, they can be addictive,
but I can’t deal with my feelings.
These days, they can be overwhelming.
Against my will
I caught your presence
Time stood still
breeding a new conscience
“I heard rage in your sleep,”
The Mighty Queen said.
“My child, what has gone so deep,
stealing the peacefulness in your dreams?”
“I forgot,”
He bares his straight, white teeth for a smile
as he greets me with his shy “Hello”,
while I politely nod as I go.
His dark complexion slightly glistens
under the Jakarta morning sun.
No signs of warning.
Everything was fine.
A face smiling,
sincere and kind.
A picture-perfect romance,
Sometimes I wish I had wings
to help me to fly away
from such mindless beings
ogling at me day by day
thinking they could grope me
anytime they please...
Another year gone by
left without questions why
The same old rituals
the familiar matters
The same old, mundane conversation
They said I should’ve stayed longer
Perhaps it’s true
You’ve made me feel better
I owe it all to you
It’s the place where I could be
Sometimes your blood runs cold
at the sight before you
You may be bold
spitting out what’s true
Pent-up anger inside
Being the first in line
doesn’t mean it’s always fine
You’re not always the priority
left to just wait and see
I’m not bitter
