If age is just a number,
then why does time feel smaller?
Space is no longer
as wide as we once experienced.
Before the digits,
There’s the child and the adult
a heated argument involved
You think the child’s always being told
but not all adults are the grown-ups
It’s funny when you see
I know you think you can
stop me where I stand
send me back home
lock me up all alone
in your socially-constructed prison
Oh, Casanova-wannabe
Who are you, really?
So you still haven’t given up on me
How to make you see?
Stop acting like you’re oh-so-desirable
Information jumbled-up
requiring double, triple-checks
even as all floods
right into your brain and heart
The clock is ticking
Hello, stranger
I love your smile
like you do my poetry
but why look so troubled?
I was just expressing my vile
Call me cruel
but I’ve been fooled
These scars don’t heal overnight
Don’t ask me to pretend I’m alright
I’m silently, patiently waiting
Backstabbers are such cowards
They spread lies
but they can’t harm this already broken heart
and I’ve got no more tears left to cry
Say it to my face
He’s a fairy tale come true
a prince charming, only for you
The sunny days with him
have kept you from going grim
You believe he’s a soulmate
Battle of the sexes:
That woman scares you.
She has more opinions than you do.
Are we in the era of escalating vanity?
So many strike a pose
It’s where anything goes
Once or twice ain’t enough
There’s always that extra dose
Oh, I never thought
that pretty petite puppet
could stab me in the back
an innocent audience
fascinated by her one little show
