Ruby - Astari Boedikoentjara
A spiteful little man
started his day with a mean comment
saying women with makeup are stupid
wasting their fortunes on expensive tidbits
A quick way for an attention-seeker
Be grateful that I’ve kept quiet
as you blab to every pair of ear
who probably refuse to hear
your sob stories
your endless miseries
What you choose to believe
will affect how you perceive.
A picture’s worth a thousand words,
or possibly less or more.
There’s more than meets the eye.
The generation gap:
“They’re just little kids,
so young and still stupid.
You don’t know me well enough
especially to live my life
to make such short-sighted assumptions.
That’s okay, though.
Everyone’s entitled to their own opinions,
no matter how flawed.
Sssh...
Hear the silence.
Listen.
You may not have before
Too busy talking
delivering demands
They all say the same cliché:
“It’s better to have loved than none at all.”
Our story had been short and not worth it,
yet I’ve been cursed with this ability;
this giant elephant memory.
I met a monster
who said all the right words
sweet and convincing
making me believe
we had something
Are you coming home tonight?
I’m waiting for you
I’d rather stay up
because your phone cannot be reached through
Where are you now?
“Oh, but I respect you.”
While at the same time, you turn us blue
keep us homebound,
while you’re free to roam around.
What humanity?
We’re treated more like properties
I miss talking to you
It’s plain simple and true
I understand, we’re both busy
Perhaps this is not the time, I see
No, I’m not going to fret
Through my eyes I can see
you, overcome by agony
There's your wall of misery
such a painful sight as can be
but the other side of you
